The name says it all. All my life i've been in, around, under, repaired, modified, and diagnosed most operating systems for these modes of transportation- air, sea, rail, as well as on and off road equipment, 200+ foot ferry boats, locomotives (GP59's mostly) and prop jet aircraft. Heavy earth moving, farm and highway construction equipment as well. But I love to tinker too - And I have a new to me toy. Its a 1980 XJ650 Maxim, red in color, obtained September 2015. 4,700 original miles, and all original - I mean all. Even had the functioning yellow coated security chain, complete tool kit, original owner's manual and switch key. I've loved motorcycles since I was 10, and that was waaay back in the last century. My motorcycle ownership so far has consisted of a new 1971 Honda CT70, a used 1974 Honda SL125, a used 1961 Allstate 175, new 1976 Honda CJ360, a new 1998 Honda GoldWing Aspencade (which I still enjoy today), and now my new XJ650 project! Good stuff. I've already experienced many of the necessary and routine jobs to get her running like a Swiss watch. Pretty close too. Fair to say I stumbled on this site recently and thankfully, as I can hear and feel the passion and knowledge contained in the forums i've read as a guest. Well no more. OldFleetGuy would like to join in the conversation, help where I can, share what I know, and learn from you. For fuel burning machines after all, it boils down to fire fuel and timing. The rest is part of the equation.
Posts will come periodically, and a lot less wordy than this intro, promise. Mainly I hope to give back more than I gain in knowledge. Next up, where my "little red XJ" is in the back to new condition process.
I wait for all responses of all types.
    Thanks.
