Hello, I just acquired a CHERRY 1983 XJ 900 Seca to commute back and forth to work. I have 4 other bikes but mess with early CB750s and had a guy trade me this 83 XJ 900 for a bike I had just finished. I really enjoy the Sport Touring riding position and have found this XJ900 to B one sweet bike. Very convertible plenty of power and good MPG.
I have been looking at a New MRA Touring Windscreen but want to make sure it will fit. Based on what little I have found the same screen was used all the way to 91. As was on the US XJ900 can any one confirm this?

Hi Kenny! Welcome aboard. You're gonna find this is one of the most awesomest (yeah, that's a real word......I just spelled it) groups you'll ever meet.

Hey, if you wouldn't mind, PM me (click on the little tab at the bottom of my reply box that says " pm " . I am the registrar for the 1983 XJ900RK Seca Database. I'd like to get some information for getting yours registered. There's no cost at all. This is our attempt at documenting those usa-delivered 900rk's that are still known to exist. So far, there are 55 on the registry. I have three of them, and one of them is the lowest serial number documented so far.

Thanks, hope to hear from you shortly,

    Dave Fox

I'm not familiar with the MRA screens, but we do offer both the stock length and both a 1-1/2" extended length (with a rear windlip), and a 2-1/2" extended length (with a rear windlip) versions of the stock screen, pre-drilled, in both clear (with blacked-out sides and bottom edges, as original) and dark smoked versions, all of them correct fit for the stock 900 fairing, along with correct mounting screws, washer, nuts, edge trim, etc.

    Kenny,

Your bike looks real good! Personally, I'd ditch the bags, though, but that's just me.........

Len Chacal already replied to your post....scroll back up to view it. You can also get to his site by scrolling all the way to the top of the pages and clicking on the XJ4Ever logo at the top right corner.

Also, can you please scroll back up and read my first post to you?

    Thanks,

hogfiddles, I have a few questions on the XJ900 I have been looking for answers. You seem to know something about the 900 as I M just getting to know the bike. I do know the ridding position is better than my 93 BMW K75S.
Speed/RPMs, it seems I M truing about 4500/ 4800 at 70 not quite sure because speedo seems to be about 10 miles fast or so

Real world mpg etc. Trying to get as much info as I can about the bike.

Mirrors? What mirrors fit the bike the best I M tired of looking a my elbows. There have got to be something better and still look good on the bike.

    Greetings from Atlanta, Ga.

If Chacal can't help you, and I would go to him first,

Try Gutaffson Windshields in Florida. They seem to have everything for everthing.

    Regards

I get about 45-48 mpg from mine. Yeah, you should be doing about 60 with that kind of rpm, if I remember correctly.....it's winter up here, so the bikes are hibernating. (They snore pretty funny......I was just over listening to them).............

Best way to determine speedo error.......go out with someone you know and have them drive their car at a prescribed place for a certain distance at certain speeds so that you can check variances.

Mirrors.....my bikes are all stock, and my trophy 900 is all factory, unrestored condition. Also, it's the lowest serial number currently known to be in existence. The mirrors are original, I look at my elbows. Oh well.

Other's will chime in on their mirror preference.

(take the spaces out before and after the "@" symbol, this forum puts them in for security reasons I think)
