I just bought a Maxim xj650 for my first bike and so far i love it, I have done a few minor repairs, and the bike runs great, better than my Dads dealer serviced BMW! I have cleaned up the chrome pretty well and replaced the signals, everything mechanical seems fine. I a, looking to clean it up and i was wondering if anyone had any imput on cleaning off the engine, and also the sissy bar which is looking worse for wear, and help would be great,
    thanks,
    Mike

Autosol metal polish for the chrome and S-100 to wash the rest should be a good combination for you. Welcome once more.

Auto sol is the way to co on chrome, and if you have the time get out your handy dremel tool and one of those felt wheels that it comes with, and buff the chrome with the autosol on the felt wheel. Its very time consumming but gives amazing results.

    Welcome,

Wow! Another SE Michgander. We'll need to start a SE Michigan XJ club (and Windsor, of course). I'm in Livonia and StahlMaster is in Hamtrammck.

And I thought all the other XJ bikers were in MN!

We'll all have to get together for a ride.
