    Hi all,

I just picked up an 82 XJ550R with about 14k on the odo. I will probably be posting quite a bit as I familiarize myself with the bike. Right now, it is not running, so I am going to go straight to the appropriate forum at this time and post my questions.

    Happy New Year!

Welcome and Congratulations on your score Bung (I ain't gonna finish it, you might want to work on another name). Which county are you in? I'm in Ventura and am mobile. If you run into problems, give us a shout.

What's wrong with bunghole? It just refers to a hole in a barrel which by the way would be corked with a bung. And it's just a funny name like "Turd Ferguson" :D

Thanks for the welcomes and offers of help. I posted a quick question on the chat forum. The plan is to swap out the battery, plugs and fuel tonight and see if that will get her to fire.

By the way, it came with a spare motor and carbs, wheels, forks, body parts, etc. I haven't even inventoried it all yet. All for $600. I'm pretty happy with it. I plan to get it running and teach my wife how to ride with it. From there, we'll probably work on "finishing" it with paint and polish.

    Thanks again!

Good purchase! They are a fun bike to ride. Easy to blast around town on, and it'll handle sport- touring with ease.
