Hello, I am so glad that I found this great site, I just bought a 1992 xj600s. I have had a couple hiccups with it so far and the members here have already got me riding again. Here are some pics

    So anyway, my questions are

I have noticed black tape on other peoples bikes around the headlight, what is the part called that is missing and is it hard to find a new one?

I have a pretty good size dent in my gas tank, Is it possible to pull a dent out of a tank or does it need replaced.

Thanks for your help everyone, Jeremy

You can find most parts for all of these bikes. That doesn't mean it is easy, but it can be done. As for the dent pulling, it can easily be done. The biggest problem with a regular dent puller is that it welds small studs onto the tank so that the pulling tool has something to hold onto. Welding (heat), and gasoline don't mix. Depending on how bad the dent is, you may get away with a toilet plunger with vasaline on the rim, or even those stupid Pops-a-dent things. I used a pops-a-dent on mine and it worked quite well. Yeah I was shocked too! Based on what I can see in the pictures, it looks as though a pro should take a look at it. It might be cheaper to buy a new one though. It never hurts to ask.
