I'm a new member and I've just dusted off the old Seca 750. Its an '82 I've had since college, and its kind of "evolved" (or should that be mutated?) over the last 15 or so years. Couldn't wait to show a few pictures - I'm hoping for a little feedback on whether I've gone too far, or not quite far enough. Drop me a line if you see anything you like or would like a little more info.
    Mods:
    Jardine 4 into 1
    GSXR750 muffler
    resized main and pilot jets
    home-made drag bars
    FJ1200 master cylinder
    inverted headlight
    shaved instrument cluster
    more to come...

Welcome to the gang LoDollar, glad you've dusted the beast off. As for whether or not you've gone far enough or not enough, I think that is best answered by yourself! What ever floats your boat, not mine, should be your primary concern. Looks beautiful as is (but don't count on my opinion, I'm a purist at heart and rarely deviate).

I like it as well. Makes me realize that I have a lot more dusting to do to my bike.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I must say I was kinda surprised by the volume of traffic on this site - I guess XJ owners are everywhere! There's a couple more pics in my gallery, but the real close-ups will have to wait til I'm finished 'dusting her off'. I still have some paint touch-ups, polishing, cleaning, etc, to do - these shots are straight outta the garage after replacing the bars and flipping the headlight (look closely you can see the duct tape on the top of the housing!). Upcoming mods are: rear signal lights and rear inner fender shave (gonna have nothing under the lip of the rear cowl except the plate which will serve as my mudguard), stubby front signal lights, and maybe a very abbreviated windshield.

I'd almost forgotten what a blast this bike is to ride - shockingly fast for an '82. My CBR/GSXR/FZR riding friends are always stunned to see me hangin in their mirrors on a nice twisty bit of road! Not bad for a 24 year old, $400 bike!

Gotta say the 'biker wannabe' tag hurts a little after 20 years wrenchin and ridin, but I guess you have to take your lumps as a newbie, huh?

Yup, we've all worn those stripes at one time or another. You'll graduate with ease, fear not. Shaving the turn signals are you??? I happen to be in need of some Seca signals for my 81. Please keep me in mind as you wander down that road. I'd like to finish mine off stock. I'm hoping to score a parts bike in two weeks so I'll let you know if the need still exists then. Peaceful journeys, Robert.

Welcome aboard Dave! Bike looks great. I would do two things for sure. Since you are going for the street fighter look which is lean and mean, I would change the turn indicators to mini stalks and I would remove the boots on the fork legs. Both seem to contradict the lines. I like the GSXR muffler. Although larger it wears like heavy armament on a fighter or a big gun on a tank. That goes well with a street fighter. Some nice low mirrors would be nice too!
