Welcome Dave! It's good to see another Minnesotan among us. 8) There's a few of us here.

There's a wealth of knowledge on this site. Stick around, the longer you do, the more you can learn.

Well so far I've just bike tinkering around with it. I cleaned out the carbs, but I dont think I did a good job it will idle and run and drive .The new problem is when the bike gets to about 6000rpm it starts to sputter. Now I dont know if it has to do with a dirty jets or the lack of exhaust, but I know that needs to get fixed.

I have some pictures in my photo alblum, but I dont know how to post them on here....

Dave, welcome.. My XJ650 does the same. Pulls like a freight train to 6K then pukes. It'll go higher but it is definitely not hitting on all four. I will rebuild the rack of carbs I bought off ebay and by carefully following the "How to's" on this site I'll bet this problem will go away.

This bike is soon to become my around town and short trip, hey I wanna light ride with no windscreen warrior.
