Hi all i just bought a seca 2 a couple of weeks ago, when i bought it it was in rough shape but seemed technically sound. Recently ive noticed it has been leaking some fuel from what seems like the carbs, it also idles high around 3K if it drops below this the bike tends to die slowly. It runs and drive but sometimes when i come to a stop with the clutch in it dies and has trouble starting back up because the battery is always dead. It is a brand new battery. I took the carbs off already (a couple of times) and they are clean and the floats dont stick. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks

Stop riding and rebuild the carbs.
The rubber parts are nearly 30 years old, and will need to be replaced.

    Rubber bits you can re-use:
The slide diaphragms if they have no holes or tears (hold them in front of a bright light to inspect), and are still supple.

Rubber bits that you need to replace:

Float needles (the source of your fuel leak), and float needle seat o-ring (if fitted).
    Idle mixture adjustment o-rings.
Throttle shaft seals (the most likely source of your high idle).

You also need to attend to all of the other parts that have a service life that is time-dependant.
Most importantly the brake system. All of those rubber parts are just as old and ready to fail as the carb parts are. Bing able to go is fun, but being able to stop is a lifesaver.

You also need to take a volt mtre and check the battery voltage with the bike running.
If it does not rise to at least 14.7 volts when the engine is running above 3,000 RMP, then the alternator brushes are probably in need of replacement.

The guy i bought it from had paperwork to show that the carbs had just been rebuilt last year so thats why i am confused.

Paperwork means nothing. I can produce paperwork that shows I have $100,000 in my checking account (which is most definitely a lie).
Even if the work was done, it doesn't mean that it was done correctly. If it had been done, then you wouldn't be having any problems.

What was done? If they weren't completely taken apart then...
