i'm going by the minimum wiring diagram but I cant get the starter to turn over. Does the starter have a positive lead coming from it? bc on the diagram I don't think it shows one

any pics would help A LOT!

You should have a thick black lead from thr starter to thr starter relay, you can test the starter by bypassing the relay, clamp a jump lead the the terminal on the strater motor & touch it to the possitive terminal on the battery, so bypassing the relay, make sure that is working before looking at the other wiring.

yea, i did that. the relay works fine, i just dont know which wire to hook up to the start button. since i know the little blue white is the ground now, does that mean the little red white wire goes to the start button?

you answered your own question, if you know the ground, the other has to be a switched 12v dc supply.

Ya, guess I was vague, the starter button works by grounding the circuit via the blue white. The red white is the hot from the switch coming in.

well that's why it wasn't working! my key switch puts 12v on when u turn it to start, not ground. i wired the blue wire to a separate button with a ground and bingo. seems ass backwards to me but it works i guess.

    thanks guys!
