Lol im a young gun asking old people for help with computers, but ok ahem. Well i jsut linked my paypal account to ebay, and i thought that meant it ws instantly connected to my checking account, so i selected marked as payed, something like that, but then i noticed i had to withdraw money form my checking account, so i did that, 50 bucks, and it will take anywhere from 3-5 days, woo-hoo, so what i want to know is once that money is in my account will it be sent to him? Will i get in trouble for marking it as paid without having money in my account? Umm ok and if it doesn't automatically send money from paypal, there is a send money tab, do i ahve to do that and enter an email adress or cell phone and select the ebay thing, thanks, any help would be accepted.

    Schooter,
Just because they are linked doesn't mean the payment is automatically made.
To pay for auction click the pay now button. It will take you to a confirmation page, lists item, auction, payment amount ect. review it.
If correct click continue, button,I think thats what it is. If your linked to paypal it will automatically pull up login for paypal. once logged in it will automatically take you to payment for this item. review it make sure you read everything and confirm all is correct then click the button, don't remember exactly how it's worded.
So in review if your ebay is linked to paypal when you click pay now it will take you to paypal, do login, do payment. when that is done it will take you back to ebay

If you used paypal to send money from your checking account and there are insufficient funds you essentially wrote a bad check.

If it were me, I'd be putting cash into the account the minute the bank opens tomorrow.

Two ways to use paypal for ebay items. The way you did it was putting funds in your paypal account. Hopefully enough to cover the ebay item. This way works well if you only buy on ebay occasionally.

The other way is to go into paypal and get your checking account 'authorized'. Go to paypal and log in, then My Account. You may have to look around but you should be able to find where you can link your checking account to paypal. It will be a bit of a process and you will have to 'authorize' your account via a link in an email they will send to you. It is all about the way they set up the security for you and your account.
Then, when you go to pay for an ebay item, it will link to paypal, then you choose to pay with your checking account. Paypal will reach out and touch your account. You can also set up a credit card to do the same thing.

As long as you have the money in your bank account, you're ok. Marking an item "paid" is not the same as actually paying for it. Ricklees and Windlover have it right, and the way you did it should be ok, it's just not as "seamless." The easiest thing would be to go ahead and get your checking account "authorized" by PayPal, then (since it's already linked) when you click "pay now" in eBay it will automatically send you to your PayPal login, and then you CAREFULLY follow through the steps. Sounds like right now you have put the money into your PayPal account but still need to tell them, via eBay, to pay for the item.

thru paypal. then when ebay sends you to paypal its all "automated" you just have to pay attention.

He should send you an invoice requesting payment through paypal. Sometimes it is automated when you do pay now but I have had those that were not.

Don't worry if your seller has any experience at all he knows the ropes and will understand - as long as he gets paid.

Check your ebay purchase and see if the 'pay now' button is still active.
If it is, click on it and follow it through to 'pay through paypal'.
Then it should take you to Paypal and you can send the payment out of the funds you have there. It should link the payment directly back to the seller. If for some reason it is not working, email the seller and explain that you are having difficulties but not to worry, you ARE working on getting him paid. Hopefully they will be understanding.

If you are not able to get the 'pay now' to work, contact ebay and explain what you have done so far. They should be able to reset things for you so that you can get your payment on it's way.

Once you resolve this difficulty and get the seller paid, I recommend that you get your checking account authorization set up to prevent these types of problems in the future.

Just be upfront with the seller and all should smooth out.

Schooter; Bill and Windlover are right, and the seller probably won't be the least bit upset if it takes a day or two for him to get paid. You will most likely get an emailed "invoice" from eBay from him, or he may just send you an email reminder. Either way, as long as you are trying to pay him and he knows it, it will be ok, don't panic.
