I was off work today, and decided it would be a good time to pull the bike out and fire it up just to see how she'd run, been about a month since I last ran it... Well, turned over after a little coaxing, and idled pretty smoothly, still have a dead spot at about 1/4 to 1/3 open throttle, so I let it warm up, backed the choke off gradually, and proceeded to rev the motor trying to nail down where the motor bogs when you open the throttle up. I belive it was about 50 degrees F today, I have the 85 XJ700 Maxim X (liquid cooled) and right around the time the temp guage hit the normal range I had opened the throttle and held it where it normally bogs down... Well it sputtered a bit and cleared up, so I did it again and to my surprise it started to run better... I've been running a light mixture of fuel system cleaner with 93 octane gas, so I thought I'd keep doing it, maybe this stuffs finally clearing the carbs out a bit. Well, the bike keeps running better and better, temp range is still good, oils good, coolant levels good, I had previously overfilled it back in November, but after running it and leaving a puddle on the ground after it heated up, I realized my error... Well, long story short, bikes up to temp, chokes off, dead spot in throttle is almost entirely gone, so I get set to go for a spin when I look down to see moisture bubbling around my spark plug boots!!!! So I hit the kill switch, thinking its antifreeze, pull a boot, stick my finger down there and its just wet, no green dye, no antifreeze odor??? Doesn't smell like fuel either... just seems to be water... So I'm totally perplexed, the motor was hot but not overheated, however I was basically idling with no airflow cooling the motor... Anybody have any ideas????
