I just rebuilt both calipers and reassembled them. A mechanic suggested using some grey antiseize, so I used some when I reassemled. Then used a large C clap to push the cylinder back in. Once on the bike I bleed the brakes until clear fluid came out and no bubbles. I also, while bleeding the brakes forgot to due the anti dive so more bleeding! The cylinders wont come out! They will move when I squeeze the handle but go back in. After 5 beers and almost a full bottle of brake fluid, the left cylinder is out further than the right. On my 6th beer writting this, any suggestions?

Try tieing the brake handle closed over night. I have no idea what it does but it worked for me. All I can think it might do is break in the new seals. Hope it helps you cant hurt to try.

rule no 1 no alcohol when working on machinery. the thought process goes out the window.
next i just replaced my front brakelines with steel braided lines, bled the system and whilst getting clean brake fluid from the calipers i had no brake pressure. cracked the banjo fitting at the master cylinder and presto a vapour lock had formed, once bled there i went back to the calipers and made sure there was no more air in the system and all is right with the world again.
i now have excellent front brakes with a one finger application.

    hope this helps you some

You still have trapped air. I just rebuilt my caliper and it can be frustrating as all get out to get it completely bled. Letting it sit helps; I suspect that because the caliper walls are not SMOOTH smooth but have fine machining grooves left they trap micro-bubbles.

Once you get enough lever back to be able to safely ride the bike, a few heat cycles help too. Re-bleed after you get the brakes hot a few times.

    I use a combination of Mity-Vac and old-school bleeding.

I had the same problem bleeding my "hidden" master cylinder.
I used a long, clear tube, and sucked the fluid out of the calipers, then the anti-dive bleeders.
Having a bleeding jar would be easier.

Well jeez...I don't know why anyone would put five beers and a bottle of brake fluid into the brake system...

I second this - tho it's not a banjo fittnig on the master cylinder of the xj750 seca, it's a solid steel brake line. You have to take the headlight off, and you'll make a mess, so either take the fender off or cover it real good. Squeeze the brake handle and crack the line, then tighten it and release the handle.

Thanks for all the help! I could have sworn I read somewhere to put the beer and brake fluid in there! I guess you cant believe everthing you read on the internet! I guess in my haste , sorry brunken haste, I forgot to mention that I have a bar mounted master and stainless steal braided lines. I tied the brake lever closed over night, then I opened up any banjo fitting till some fluid came out, then continued to bleed. It has gotten a lttle better there is some contact. I will try this procedure on friday.
