Help removing light switch on 1983 XJ900

    Having trouble removing light switch on left handlebar on my 1983 xj900. Problem is the plastic choke portion and choke cable . Can any one help on this? Thanks

    Tom,

    Loosen the clutch perch and slide it forward. Loosen the control and slide IT forward. That should give you room. Disconnect the enricher cable, now you should be able to get the ring off, and open the controls.

    Did you get it apart? If your having trouble with the ring itself, you have turn it far enough around for the "tabs" to line up with the "slots", then pull straight out. Once that's out of the way, the control housing is held together by only a couple long bolts from underneath.
