I'm not sure if im paranoid or what but since I did the head gasket I've had issues with noises. Last night I had the valve cover off and was doing a (automatic chain tensioner adjustment) for what I think is excessive chain noise and spotted chain marks on the underside of the valve cover. I did the adjustment but tried somthing else too. The chain appeared to be nice and tight laying on the bridge..I tugged on it a little and it gave a little. I tugged on it a little more and so much slack came to the chain that it suprised me. Should my auto chain tensioner ratchet have kept me from being able to give it more slack by hand? I was under the assumption that the ratchet part was 1 way only letting the thing move towards the chain not back out too? When I put the cover on and fired it up I still hear rattle and I'm worried it might be a DEATH RATTLE?
