    Hi folks,

Since this bike is new to me, I don't have anything to compare it to so its tough to search prior posts and come up with an answer to the question. When my bike is hot, (after a half hour or so of riding on a hot day) it begins to get a noticeable tick at idle. It's noticeable but not severe, and you can't hear it at all when moving at more than a couple thousand rpm's.

From what I've gathered in this forum, some noise is normal. The question I have is whether or not this sounds like the 'normal' valve noise. It's pretty quiet when the engine is cold. Oil is good, valves need to be checked, but the bike just turned 5500 miles, so I can't imagine they are too far out of whack.

You get to hear all the valves.

The noise is a GOOD Noise.
    Quiet Valves ... now, there's a problem.
When they're quiet ... they might NOT be fully closing tight.
    Not good.

Yep. We ride one of the noisiest bike out there.
But, when you have everything humming ... its a beautiful thing.

Thanks! The thing is running like a scalded dog thanks to all the tips I've gotten on here on carb cleaning.
