My bike is pretty much finished it is wired and I ran wires to battery to make sure the lights all worked, which they did. The turnsignals, brake and headlight do not work tho when I use the buttons. The horn works though so I know it is getting power. The other thing is the bike wont start. You here on click when you press button but then nothing. I am baffled I dont know what to do, I am so close to being finished and able to ride but yet so far...HELP Please!!

    Thanks!

My initial guess would be that the battery is low, I don't think the horn takes much juice. I know it's simple but gotta start with the easy ones.

Did you keep the original handlebar controls?

Did you paint the handle bars under the controls? Most of our XJs get GROUND from the bare metal of the handlebars under the controls. (Obviously metal to metal connection also needed from handle bars to risers).

Make sure that the earth straps between the frame and the motor are
connected and if they are make sure that the terminals where they bolt on
to the motor and the frame are clean. Have a look in your manual to see
where these earth straps run. On a rebuild they can get lost or not put back
on and you can have all sorts of problems until they are hooked up properly
    again.

Turns out my handle bar starter wasn't grounded!! So the bike starts and sounds awesome, pretty loud but I love it! It idles way too high. When I ride it, it is fine but right when I pull clutch in to slow down or shift it revs extremely high. Also for some reason my turn signals and brake light still do not work, but my headlight does...if it isn't one thing it is another!

Check your throttle cable routing, if its good back the idle screw down and make sure to synch the carbs also. Glad you got it running

Turn signal could be a bad switch in the handlebar assembly or a broken wire in it. Check your fuses too.

I had the same thing happening, it was the throttle cable...
