Just started up my bike for the first time after the winter, and with the bike running, the low beam does not come on. The high beam works. Couldn't find anything in the forums or in the manual. Any help? Thanks

Are there two bulbs, or two filaments?

If your bike has the original headlight, the bulb is a sealed-beam like an older car and there are two filaments.

If it's been converted to a modular light (separate bulb and reflector/lens) then it will still have one bulb, with dual filaments.

If it still has the sealed beam, consider upgrading to a modular type H4 halogen headlight. If you use a proper motorcycle reflector assembly, the improvement over stock is dramatic.

Two filaments. If you take the bulb out, you'll probably see one of the filaments is broken. The low beam usually goes first because it's used a lot more.

It's a sealed one. Do I have to change wiring or fuses in order to upgrade?

Not if your wiring is in good shape, clean connections, etc.

Then it's just a "plug-n-play" (well almost, you have to install the new unit in the headlight bezel) installation.

    XJ4Ever has a Euro-spec Hella that I highly recommend.

I'd make sure it's not corrosion in the headlight plug before splashing out on new parts
It's happened to me but we do get damp winters here
