I asked about this in another thread and someone told me that it's hard to do because the speedo is geared to go up to 80mph so there would be some serious modification involved to get the same speed to go up to whatever the top speed is. May i suggest getting a bicycle speedometer and strapping it to the handle bars.

Most bicycle speedometers will accurately display up to 200 MPH.

another possibility is to have a ratio adapter installed in the speedo cable. I just spoke to a guy at west valley instruments in cali that said he could install one in my cable for less than $100 if I send him a cable. that would make our 80mph speedos 130mph speedos. probably the easiest way to get around the 80mph limitation.

in case anyone is interested in talking to the guy at west valley instruments, here is the number. 818 758 9500

What does he charge for a new faceplate to go with the correction gearbox?

dunno, I didn't ask. but considering the work they do, they could probably do it. you might want to contact them yourself.

I have a Canadian one that is in good mechanical shape and properly geared to 220 kph (140 mph), but it reads kph as the primary (outside) and miles as the minor (inside). It would work for you, but you would want to use your existing needle and perhaps (optional) source that faceplate.

Let me know if you are interested in it.

it's been awhile since i had a analog speedo but isn't there a pin that stops the needle? snip it off.
and a bicycle speedo doesn't have a light in it :(

The stop is there to keep the speedometer from damaging the very fine spring that controls the accuracy of the speedometer. I don't know which bicycle speedometers y'all are using, but my $11 Bell reads to 200 MPH (bench tested) and has a backlight. I'd shop around to find one with that functionality.
