Newbie here but have had some experience with carbs. I just acquired a 85 Maxim 700 that has been sitting for 12 years. I pulled the bowls and found jets plugged. I've tried soaking in carb cleaner, sea foam, and boiling in water. The orafice so small I don't want to try to push anything through causing damage. Any tricks to getting these things cleaned up?

I'm also looking for some carb gaskets and a float needle. I see there is a vendor on the site, but don't see how I can order from them.

+1 on Chacal, he will get you fixed up, you can email him at info@xj4ever.com .

Don't remember where I read it, but someone on here made the suggestion of using one of the bristles from a parts cleaning brush. They are small enough even for the pilot jet. And yes, using any kind of metal to push through is a bad idea.

Soak them in carb cleaner for 24hours, then blast them out with compressed air. Even the little cans of air for cleaning a keyboard will help. Unfortunately the modern chemicals they use in carb cleaner aren't what they used to be, so they have to soak longer. I also soaked mine in an ultrasonic cleaner, malthough I was later told that carb cleaner in an sonic bath is a good way to start a fire. It worked for cleaning, though.

I had soaked them overnight and blew them out with compressed air. Thanks for the help!
