Hey gang. Still rockin' the Seca, so I'm not leaving! But the girlfriend's got a 1982 Honda CM450E Twinstar that's in need of some attention. Try as I might, I haven't found a good forum for the bike. Does anyone know of a good forum for the bike? Thanks!

I have found a couple sites:

    hondatwins.net
    hondatwins.com

Nice sites, but loaded mostly with CBs and other, more popular models. I'm guessing this is going to be the case everywhere..

What's the difference between the CM and the CB?

And why not start a new thread, here in "Other Motorcycles" and ask about whatever your issues are? There's bound to be some Honda knowledge about...

That's the thing, I don't really know what the differences are between the two. Very similar, but there are differences. Looking over the .net site I posted, however; it looks pretty quality.

I'm a big fan of lurking, but if I do have any questions I can't find answers for, I'll be sure to post them up here.

I just looked in the online parts fiche for the '82 CB450 and the '82 CM450.

Although part numbers differ slightly, the crankcases, frame, etc., seem to be virtually the same; the only real differences I see are bodywork and seats and some ancillary cycle parts. The CB seems to be more of their "standard" whereas the CM looks like more of a "custom."

Think Seca vs. Maxim; other than that they're both Honda twins with pretty similar guts.

Link to fiche; although it says "Yamaha" they have a good Honda fiche too. http://www.yamahapartshouse.net/pages/p ... parts.aspx

Just checked my Clymer shop manual that I have for my 1981 CB400T Hawk and bigfitz52 is correct in that the CM's and CB's used the same motor and basic drivetrain. Things like frames, forks , headlights might differ between the models since they are different styles. The manual covers all 1978-1987 Honda 400-450cc twins. Suggest you get one as it is full of info and does tell you the different steps involved when there is a difference between the models. Also agree with the idea of start a new thread under other bikes and we can see if we can help you with your questions.

Thanks guys. When she bought the bike, it came with a book-turned-binder. I'll have to see if it's a Clymer-style shop manual (I think it is). Fortunately my wrenching time on the Seca has improved my general knowledge of 80s Japanese bikes. If I have any questions, I'll start up a thread here.
