My horn is inop- I took apart the button assembly and found the spring was contact is in good shape. When I ran the wiring I found that I do not have any power coming out of this black box located behind and below the left side panel. Any thoughts as to what the problem is? :?:

1986 yamaha maxim x and the only mods would be the K&N pod Filters that I put on and larger main jets in the carbs.

Put 12v test light across the same electrical contacts as your horn (probably just 1 contact with the frame being the ground). Turn bike ignition on. Press horn button. If the test light doesn't light then there is some sort of wiring issue. [Maybe the Maxim X has a horn relay? Check the wiring diagram/troubleshoot back from the horn with the test light.] If it does light, then the horn itself either needs adjusted (little Phillips-head screw) or replaced (use a Fiamm or USA auto/truck horn as a replacement).

I replaced my horns with one "Mini but loud" or something like that. Works well and i was able to hide it because i think the stock horns are ugly
