I just found this rough gem of an 82 Seca 550. She needs some work. It does run very well.

This one's pretty unique as to the period correct performance parts that are on it. It has a dual disk setup with braided steel lines. I'm not sure if it's from a Euro XJ550, or a Canadian RZ350LC. The forks have an air assist and a Daytona fork brace. I've never seen these wheels, either. The gold is not paint. These are a factory gold wheels that came from outside the US. They have the same finish as the gold wheels on my Eddie Lawson Replica. It's got a massive oil cooler with braided steel lines. The rearsets are some cheesy home made junk. I don't know where the rear shocks came from. They say made in Mexico. The pipe is a Bassani. Let me tell you, that is the sweetest sounding pipe I've ever heard on an inline 4. The collector is massive! It's pretty mint except for a bit of rash on the end of the can. Finally, it has the super rare Cal-Fab swingarm. It's about as mint as you could find. The whole bike has been safty wired.

I'm going to clean this one up and put stock parts on it. I also have a spare 82 fairing I'll put on. Then it will be for sale.

    Looks good.
The wheels are probably not European and definately not UK market - they are the "Reverse spiral" the same as a Seca and the Euro 550 discs are solid not slotted.
    See this fleabay link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-XJ550-FRON ... 1c117fa619
Later discs - like my 600 have more slots than the Seca (Presumably because it rains more here!!!!!)

Some one loved this bike a few years ago!

The wheels are standard US market Seca 550 wheels, only with a different accent color. Tell 'em, Big Fitz.

Why not try to sell the bike with all this "patina" still intact??
You want to erase about half of this creativity first?
You could always offer the stock parts.

We call them Maxim wheels around these parts. I'm not sure about the front disks. They don't look like my RZ rotors, which I think are the same as the FJ600.

Someone did love that bike. I'm sure someone will again after I'm done with it.

Let me get you some macro shots. :)

That's possible. They could be Aussie, or possibly Japanese.

That's a good possibility, also. It runs really strong for a 35k mile bike.

I purchased this bike for the parts it has, plus it has a title so I can resell it. Do you have any idea how rare these parts are? I've been looking for a Cal-Fab for years. Finding good useable period correct performance parts for these bikes is nearly impossible.

I have everything to make the bike 100% stock. I'd rather sell the bike stock and make my money back and have all the period correct bling for free. It's a no brainer to me.

It does not take creativity to buy a bunch of parts and bolt them on.

Some of those parts will find there way on my race bike and my 7000 mile Seca. I may trade some for a mint 81 tank.

This is how I would have built a Seca back when I used to carry around the brochures and Cycle mags, dreaming of buying a Seca 550 on my bus boy salary back in 81.

Another thing is this bike is an homage to a special friend I lost many years ago. I want it to be exactly like his was. It will. He had all the same stuff that I've been lucky enough to find. It may even be a bit nicer. He didn't have the Yosh cams, CRs, or the Works shocks. The Cal-Fab was the last piece of a 3 year search to duplicate his bike to the best of my memory after over 26 years.
