I don't see any provision for setting the idle. Unless it's slightly choked, it won't idle without stalling. I don't want to use the adjuster at the handlebar throttle (you're supposed to have some dead space anyway, 2-4mm), but I don't see an easily accessed idle set screw in the center of the carbs, where the cable attaches. What gives? Thanks.

On my '82 Seca there is a nurled nob about 1/2" in diameter located at the bottom of the carbs between #2 and #3. It is accessable from the Right side of the engine. This is the idle adjustment.

Why Yamaha didn't extend the Idle Adjustment Rods with a flexible extension and Knob easily accessed somewhere near a Side Panel or to the rear of the Number One Float Bowl is beyond me???

Trying to reach-in and adjust your Idle by expecting to be able to withstand the heat of a engine that is high-revving is next to impossible on some models.

You have to remove the seat and a side cover on the 900 to take a few revs off a warmed-up engine running hot and over-revving.
Leave your wristwatch on and you might wind-up getting a good burn to the back of your hand if the watch gets snagged on anything underneath there.

I have re-tapped the threads on the Carb Mounts and Oiled and Greased the Rod ... but, the darn thing acts seized when you finally do get a grip on that uncomfortable Knurl Knob.

As vital an adjustment as it is ... you'd think that they'd have designed it just a bit more ergonomically ... especially for fat-handed tweakers that like their Idles dialed-in around 1,000 rpm or so.
