How do you know it's time to get a new airbox?

    Aloha,
I had a stuck carb float and had to remove them. I figured since I was removing them, I will replace the airbox as well. Yanking it and putting the new one in is for tomorrow, however, I'd thought I'd post a picture or two of the airbox that's been in there now. No wonder I've been having problems. Also, got muffin-"tins" for the carb cleaning. Thought some might dig them.

It looks as though the last pics are in the bedroom. I never clean carbs there anymore.

Actually the last ones are on the couch. There is a quilt on there because my sister has been sick.

And thanks to Danno, I've got the replacement ready to install.

I love those Muffin Bins you have there!
I hope you'll be able to shoot some Carb Cleaner in the bins without damaging the material.

Looks like somebody did a number on your airbox.
It can be fixed if you are inclined to do so.

You'll have to go to an AutoBody Supply Outlet or Harbor Freight and get a Plastic Welding Kit.
It takes a few minutes to get the hang of filling-in a crack or larger space with the Plastic Rods ... but, after you seal it all up, you can grind and sand it to look like new.

    "replacement sister?"
Heh, no. Sometimes I wish. I mean a replacement airbox.

The muffin tins are some kind of silicone. They seem to not be affected much, but they were only like $1 each, so I'm not too worried.

Looks like the air intake boots have shrunk with age and somebody forced the top forward to make them fit again.
