Started with 2 liter bottle drilled hole in the cap put hose over 3/8 hose barb and stuck that in hole drilled makes tight seal no leaks.I then put a length of hose from other side of hose barb to my in line filter. Made a hook out of coathanger and held it on with the wrist pics from 2 rubber gloves kind of ghetto but it works great incase anyone is in need of aux tank

Don't leave gasoline in this kind of bottle for too long, the plastic will melt and you'll have a mess.

Don't put gasoline in it at all. PET (what soda bottles are made of) has a relatively large amount of space in it's molecular structure. Gas vapors will migrate through the bottle and become quite a serious fire hazard long before you notice the bottle failing. Go to a lawnmower repair shop and see if they have a gas tank from a scrapped machine; it'll be both cheap and safe.

Peeks nice ingenuity for sure! Can't believe how much vendors want for a crappy small aux tank!! You could do the same thing with an organic chemical approved plastic bottle and use it long term with no worries. Chemical labs throw them out all the time. The soda bottles are PET which degrades pretty quick, but HDPE will work long term. Thick walled HDPE is what 'approved' gas cans are anyway-just another 'do as we say ploy' to extract $$.
