How long does it take the gas to evaporate from the gas bowls. After my bike sits for about a week when I turn my petcock to "Prim" I can see fuel flow into the carbs thought a clear inline filter. I need to know where the gas went. I do not smell gas in the oil. I am curently doing a paper test for a leaking petcock. I removed the fuel line from the petcock and placed a square of newsprint under the petcock. If any fuel leaks by the valve and drips on the paper it is easily seen.

I gess my main question is will gas flow into the engine if a float is stuck open and the petcock does not let fuel by.

The fuel has to flow past the "first" valve which is the petcock, then it has to flow past the "second" valve which is the float valve before it can overflow into the cylinder or airbox.

So, if the petcock does not let fuel get past it (as it's designed to do when the engine is NOT running) you have NO FLOW!

when you park the bike hot, some of the gas in the bowls may vaporize from the heat soak of the hot engine.
