How many miles have you got on the bike?

    Model.

    Year.

What, ... (besides Tires, Brakes, Battery, Bulbs ...) needed service, failed, broke, doesn't work, is going?)

What would you like to see improved?

I'd like to have the 6th Gear which I often try to shift to.

    I love a Gas Gauge?

Hello, my name is Andrew, and I've been sober two years.

    I mean....

    22,000 miles
    1992 XJ600 Seca II

Found out today that the intake valve on cylinder #4 is discreetly scraping the piston! I had a buddy put a fiber optic camera into the spark plug hole, and you can see a half-inch scrape on the piston. I'm HOPING it's something simple like the valve spring. My poor baby -_-

I would love a gas gauge, too. I don't do well with the count-the-miles-on-the-odometer-thing. Other than that, this bike is a blast.

If the bike is running, I would say that is impossible, the pistons do, however, have a valve shaped indent in the top.

Yea I though the same thing, but the other pistons don't have a scrape mark, and the one that does clicks when the engine is running.

I'd figure that if any metal object touches the piston while the engine is running, then something has to crack, explode, or turn the universe into a giant black hole.

Waiting on ignition coils (replacing them both) left 1 & 4 coil went out on me right after a 250 mile trip, I had just pulled in the driveway when she lost her spark of life.

Need a pair of good ($250-$350) rear shocks, money a bit tight at the moment.

Would love to get the computer HEAD warning to go out. I'm using HID xenon bulb.

After the ridding season is over replace the steering bearnings. That won't be until December if the weather premits (fingers crossed)

I would like to modify the swing arm so it premits me to use a wider wheel and tire 140mm or 150mm. Don't know if that one will happen.

JayEye: very nice looking Seca tourer. PM me if you wanna ride. Just picked up a Concours I want to put some distance miles on.

Needing new shocks because of your passenger could really be interpreted the wrong way. Delete your history file.

    1981 Seca 750, 38k and change had 19k when I got it.

Stator was bad when I bought it, coils lasted 2 seasons and the carbs, which performed well until recently need overhauled.

I added forward controls, drag bars and a wind screen. I also recently switch the Kerker exhaust for a Mac setup strictly due to ease of routine maintenance.

I too would like to have a wider rear tire and I have a custom saddle being made. A little wider and a little lower than stock.

Interesting results so far. I would have expected more of a bell curve. Not a lot of data though.

    About 46000 miles

    Model - 750 midnight maxin

    Year - 83

What, ... (besides Tires, Brakes, Battery, Bulbs ...) needed service, failed, broke, doesn't work, is going? -

Cleaned the carbs from sitting for 5 years. After riding it for about 1 year had to split the case to fix the "Stuck in first gear" problem Replace the chain guide and have had no problems sence.

What would you like to see improved?

I too would like a 6th gear...and a windshild, but I can get one of those.

~53,700 miles, riding it like I stole it

    Done:
    Oil cooler (by PO)
    Wheel bearings
Carb bodies (carbs have been completely rebuilt)
    Seat cover
    Fuse box (by PO)
    Engine guards (by PO)
    GP Touring bars
    Handlebar-mounted brake master cylinder
    Intake boots
LED turn signals and electronic flasher
    Fork seals
    Caliper seals
    Clutch friction plates and springs
    Valve cover gasket
    Fork schrader valve

    Needs:
New rubber guide bits on both brake calipers
    New swingarm bearings (due?)
    Steering head bearings
    Cam chain (probably soon...)
    New seat foam

Final gear ratio could be better. Seat could be more comfortable (wider). Other than that, she hasn't let me down yet.

schooter, sounds like what you want is an FJ

I cleaned the carbs, fiddled with the idle air and syncing, fresh rubber and fluids all around, relocated rear blinkers to accommodate some luggage. Got it with 13k, did valve adjust around 15k. Odometer broke last winter at 16k and have been from Seattle to San Fransisco and back since then.

What I wish Yamaha had design into my XJ:
A bar mounted master cylinder instead of the cable op one behind the headlight, linked plumbing for the air adjustable forks for slightly easier filling/setting and even if they leak they are always matched, A lighter weight anti-dive like Kawi did, A lighter weight bike like Honda did.
As others have said, A little more rubber clearance would be nice. I don't care about running much fatter tires but on a rat tourer like mine it's nice to have the utmost versatility in rubber choice when far from home.
