I let her run with choke at 2k, and feather off the choke as it creeps up to keep it at 2k.

I turn the choke off when i'm on the road with no stops ahead of me.

With full choke, cold bike, mine normally idles at around 2-2.5k rpm. Once it starts to warm up, it will jump up into the 3's and 4's and then I go to about 3/4 choke which idles the bike at about 1500 rpms. A minute or so of that and I can take the choke off and it will idle at about 11-1200 and away I go, lol.

i only pull out the choke about a 1/4,it starts imediately and turn of choke straight away , then i rev it too about 1500 rpm for about a minute,it settles on about a thousand once i let go of the throttle, put my jacket and helmet/gear on then take off, i dont go over 3 or 4000 for the 1st few minutes unless i need to get out of the way of a car. having said that the bike isnt outside and it doesnt get cold hear like you blokes get.

I start mine and back off on the choke to keep it 2k-2500 i just don't like mine revving any higher with no load

It's still cold here (might have snow this weekend) so mine needs a LOT of choke. Start it full choke, start it a few more times after it dies from the cold, back it out of my driveway, cruise a couple miles down to the freeway, then remove the choke once I get on the freeway. While I back out it may spend some time "idling" at almost 4k, but it kinda needs it on the cold mornings.

Mine starts cold about 2k with the choke and warmed up runs about 1200.

my normal starting routine. Half to three quarters choke push the button then lower the choke till its about 2000 rpm. Start putting on my gear untill the revs start to pick up then pop the choke down so its at 1500. Finish putting on gear. take the choke the rest of the way off and go. Also my bike idles about a needle width above 1000 when warm.

My 82 XJ650 J like to run about 2K on full choke. Normally I start the bike and let it run while I get my jacket, helmet and gloves on. I leave the choke on until I get on the actual road. I live in a townhouse apt. I keep the bike in the back of my joint and ride it from the front to the back. Usually by the time I get to the parking lot again (5-8 min) total time. I can turn the choke off and it will idle 1,200 -1,500 though hard to really tell with the factory analog tac.

    Full choke, 2-2,5k
    Warm, 1k

(I do adjust the idle screw often at lights)
