My 650XJ has a miss at about 3000rpm I had the carbs rebuilt a year ago and it started about a month ago. Don't know if it is a fuel or an electrical problem. Any ideas where I should start?? :(

set the idle to 3000rpm and measure the temps of the headers, if one is cold, thats your missing cylinder. if its a random/intermittant miss, this method wont work.

I hope she's not an intermittent miss. ;-)

You can check two things first. Pull the plugs right after it misses like doing a plug chop. See what cylinder looks like the culprit. Check you plug wires and caps. You might want to ohm them out anyway. Check the connections in that cap. Try it again if it has a miss. You can pull the carbs and see if that carb has dirt in it. I found one of my plug wires had a bad connection at the cap. I cut the wire back and made a new connection and that was it. Good Luck
