Hey all. I'm heading to a motocycle recyclers place. Looking for a 80-83 XJ750 gas tank. The guy says he thinks he has some. But how can I ID the tanks? Is there a part number stamped in them? Pictures are helpful. Thanks!

Not all have the pigtail for the fuel level sending unit.
The Maxim 650 fuel tank looks identical, but holds less fuel (it will fit on a 750 though).

All of these will have the pigtail for the fuel level sending unit, and will fit onto a Maxim (but won't look right).

Both have similar tunnels, and the same mounting points.

The fuel cap is the same on all of the 650/750 tanks, regardless of sub-model (but will be chrome unless it is from a Midnight Maxim).

    K-moe.... Your purple-blue 750 tank looks like a 1985/1986 xj700/750 tank, NOT an up-to-1983 xj750 maxim tank

You're right. Grabbed the wrong pic.
    Fixed now.

I need more money, so I can have more parts, so I can use my own pictures.

We all need more money for bike parts. Somehow it always seems to be at the bottom of the priority list when the bills come due.

Try to get a good conditioned 750 tank. Ask the wrecker for a side by side with a 650 tank. As stated the 750 tank is a bit larger and will be more useful and cost effective once you start season riding.
