Keep them in a box on the shelf?

In all seriousness parking indoors or covering the bike when not in use is the best thing that you can do. UV exposure is the real killer of rubber parts.

If you just replaced them don't worry about them you still gonna be riding the bike 30 years from now. like k moe said keep them out of the sun but what is hardest on them is all the heat and cooling from the motor and there is nothing you can do about it. My 83 750 has 3400 miles on it i just pulled the carbs and cleaned them they were still soft as can be. I put the air intakes in an old sock threw them in the dryer for 10 min and got them all past the carbs and in the air box with no problems. Rubber parts just deteriorate over time and heat makes it worse.

yet another use for the family clothes dryer. I personally put mine in boiling water and take them out one at a time so the last one is as warm as the first one.
