I have posetd a couple things about carbs and such, but I never actualy introduced myself. I am a newbie when it comes to motorcycles, I have worked on various cars/truck some with success and some.. well not. I got the bike (1985 Maxim xj700) from a cousin. It ran but poorly when I got it, the problem was and still is in the carbs. I goofed up 2 of my origional carbs and hosed the pilot screws did a number on the thredding on the carbs as well when I was cleaning them. So I bought replacement carbs, cleaned and bench synched them and got them all installed, but it only backfires and pops a bit. it sounds like it wants to run. I am going to be taking a look at my pilot screws on these carbs. That should work at least Im hoping.

I have read through dozens of threads and posts I have seen many of the same problems, mostly related to the carbs. I have been thinking that I want the fasted cheepest way to get it on the road, but after the problems I have had , money spent and all the reading I have done seeing others issues. Im just going to take my time and get through it as I can one step at a time. That's a much better way of spending my blood, sweat and tears.
