    Hello everyone,

At the end of last year my bike started to make a humming noise over 10 mph. I changed out the front wheel bearings. This is the first time I drove it since last year and the noise is still there. If I slow down from speed and go below 5 mph the noise goes away but as I speed up the noise will come back. It does change under front end load. Which makes me believe that it is the front end.

I just rebuilt the front end and replace the head bearings with the tapered bearings.

Any help will be greatly appreciated thank you.

is your tire "cupped" ? saw tooth ware? change the air pressure, see if it changes the tune

Disconnect the speedo cable and go for a short ride and see if the noise goes away.

The tires have less than 300 miles on them and tire pressure no change.

I will try the speedo cable.

So I removed the speedo cable and the noise is gone. Is it something that I can service or should I replace it?

The cable cand be pulled from the sheathing, cleaned, and then greased. Honestly I'd just replace it with a new one since it's probably the original, has likely been in need of lubrication for some time (therefore worn and mroe likely to break) and only costs $35 or so.
