    The bank just informed me that my mortgage is paid off as of this past monday........6 months earlier than expected!!!!

    Gonna sleep good tonight.

    My FIRST mortgage payment was paid last week. Less than 20% of it actually paid the principle... ugh

    It was really kind of funny.....we've tried to pay a little ahead whenever we could......a little here, a little there----

    so April's payment went in, and with the little extra, here's what the bank said had happened:

    Part went to the principal, part went to the interest, part went to the escrow, and the extra went onto the back end of the principal. The events went like this: Principal was the main part since we're closing in on September. Interest remaining was a total of $4.00. Extra went onto the back end of the mortgage......now, the escrow payment went in and that put the escrow balance higher than the balance remaining on the principal. Interest was paid off, so the bank's view now becomes - "we're not making any money off this account anymore, so take the escrow and pay off the principal, send any escrow extra back, close the account and find someone new to get a mortgage for......this one is not profitable for us anymore"...........

    Boy did I sleep good Tues night!!!!!

    Now I just wait for the lein release to come from the bank and from the county.
