I was all set to replace fork seals on the 550, and now my FJ daily driver is leaking...

FJ might have to take precedence because of the daily driver thing. Also, it's going to be an upgrade, which means bucks.

    Eh...

If it's not one thing it's always another. But it really sucks when it's both.

FJ1200 had three versions over the years. The forks, specifically, had two. There is the 84-87 style with a 16" wheel and anti-dives, and there is the 89-93 style with a 17" wheel and no anti-dive.

The later fork is an upgrade because you get a much wider selection of tires in 17" and better handling. Also, the later forks come with improved brakes, which can be upgraded even further because they are a direct swap for R1 calipers.

And someone is offering me a freshly rebuilt fork set.

It's leaking pretty good on one side.

The 550 isn't on the road yet, I need to finish adjusting everything.
