So, I was a dumba** and my loosed speedometer cable fell to the ground while taking it for a test ride. The input/needle that goes into the cluster is the only thing missing. It threads just fine, etc.

Anyone know about the needle portion or is this cable terminally ahem...

    Thanks!

Don't feel bad you are not the only one who has done that, I'm gulity. Its easier to buy another cable, they are less than 20$ for a new one. I've tried to make a new inner cable, its not worth the time and effort.

It's completely do-able if you find a replacement "inner" the right size. Old-school auto parts stores (like NAPA) sometimes carry replacement inner cables that are "cut-to-fit." Then you stick the end thingie on. You could take your original to an auto parts and see what they have that's close. The inner cable in my Norton is a replacement for a pre-60's GM car, bought in a Ma and Pa auto parts in rural Virginia somewhere when the original died on a road trip. I've never seen the need to re-replace it.

That being said, it will probably cost near what a new cable costs...

That's what I figured. Thanks for the information fellas. Hopefully this thread will serve as a warning and quick answer for anyone else in this position. I know Motion Pro makes some for less than $20 shipped. Can't beat that.

I just hate throwing money after mistakes. Dumb.
