I don't want it, but you can't have it.

I remember coming across this phenomenon as a younger brother to an older one in my preteen days.

I, as an adult, work with technology, just to be clear.

    The question.
Someone steals your iPhone or iMac or Samsung phone.

It's locked down and they can't get to your data without your fingerprint, face scan, pin number, blood sample etc etc.

You're never going to get it back.

Do you want it to be landfill?

A factory reset is impossible and even if you can kludge through one, you still need to register the device before it will work... Then it will lock down again. Yes I've tried.

Yes Samsung have implemented an invasive cloud based ownership to IMEI/MAC/device just like Apple.

So over the last couple of years I've had customers with devices they own and have long forgotten their logins or lost the original email account or changed phone number and don't have the original receipt and end up with a dead device.

Basically apple and Samsung declare they must have stolen it... Right.

At any rate, after a little bit of research it seems recycling or charities can't use them either... So landfill.

I guess I'm just ranting. But wtf!
