Not only did they change it but they SAVED it and it will be included along with the original balded tires, and even one of the brake pads that isnt worn all the way through the rivets yet.

    Some people have no taste.

My first motorcycle was a Vulcan 800. Great cruiser bike with backrest. I found out after I signed the ownership that it was going to be bobbered :-(
My Heart sank... That poor bike

So you bought the bike, and then they chopped it up? That's a crazy deal! If someone cut up my ride AFTER I signed the papers, there'd be HELL TO PAY!!

I think he means that he sold the bike thinking it would be kept stock. After he signed over the title, he found out the buyer was going to chop it.

Lay off the exhaust pipe Matt. ;)

I'm a firm believer, if the bike is in good condition stock then you should leave it the hell alone or try and restore it. There are plenty on bikes out there that can't be restored to original and make better candidate for a custom.

Getting bob'd isn't a bad thing, just look at Bald's build. Getting bob'd by this guy should be illegal though.

    Thank you, good sir.

I agree with the heart of your comment, but I fully realize that my bike was a perfect candidate for restoration and not modifying, making me a hypocrite. My only justification, and likely the reason for most others, is that I didn't know much about bikes when I started, I just knew where I wanted to end up. So I hedged my bets by finding a bike that worked when I started. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there who like to take shortcuts and aren't interested in learning. They just want to make a buck. Not to bash entrepreneurship, but unchecked it can lead to bad results quickly.

Case in point: I just realized the brake light is one of those lights for a trailer you see in the repair aisle at truck stops. Not much was done to improve it.

I wasnt even complaining about the bobbing, just the fact that he thinks after doing what he did it is worth twice as much as the next most expensive xj on there

I had an idea of what I wanted to do too and mine could have been restored but it would have taken more money and time to do that. the paint, chrome and plastics where in bad shape but mechanically it was pretty decent. I think it was a victim of the PO doing a 1/2 ass mod job but the POPO appeared to have taken care of it. For me it was just too far past the line try and take it back and like you said, when I started I didn't have the experience I have now also.

    I'm selling mine for $25K if anyone's interested. ;)

My bike came from a barn. If I didn't take it, it would still be in a barn. Ten years from now, when the farmers have retired, chances are it would get sold for scrap. Therefore, anything I do to it, including extending the forks by 18 inches and running bicycle tires front and rear if I chose, is still saving it from it's terrible fate! I'm not gonna do that, but I could if I wanted.

Mine will be a bargain at $18k (Canadian) compared to Ribo's, but I'm no Showcase Superstar either!

See many like that in vancouver ... Any idiot with a pecker saw and black paint calls there bike a "Custom Bobber". Truth is they found a piece of crap missing too many parts to save or restore and they want thousands. Most should be classed as rat bikes. Makes my 1981 cb900c priceless

When I see one of these bobbers with no back fender it makes my family jewels cringe. I can just imagine hitting a bump or something and leaving the seat and landing on the rear tire going 50 mph. Och!
