What you need is the location of the safety relay unplug that to confirm your diagnosis (or bypass the neutral switch temporarily.)

+1. My engine is apart. The switch is to the left of the oil level sensor in a recessed cavity beside the oil sump. The oil level sensor connector and the neutral switch are in close proximity.

hint, the splined shifter shaft rotates the shifter drum, the switch extends up to touch the drum

Hint #2. If you have a 750, the exhaust collector hides the switch from direct view.

    Hint#3. It's also hidden on the 650.

But not nearly as hidden, and it's actually accessible (barely) on a 650 without dropping the exhaust.

I'd call that hidden. If you don't drop the exhaust use lots of curse words; they're plentiful.

On my 650 Seca you have to drop the exhaust. If you don't have a special tool to reach the neutral switch you have to take off the front motor mounts and jack the the engine up and because of the close proximity of the frame I had to ground the walls of a (I think 14mm) socket to get in there. and it is difficult to see. I tried using a mirror, still to difficult to see. Since the oil and gas had been drained I decided to to GENTLY lay the bike on it's side against a cushion and was able to R&R it. To be able to help better you should list your model as there are differences. Best to include in them your signature. Best of luck Jaimie

By accessable I mean tht you can reconect the wire if it comes off or is broken. You definitely can't remove the switch with the exhaust in situ, or without needing to modify a socket to clear the frame.

We actually have a special little set of tools needed to remove the switch while the engine is still in the frame (and on most models, while the exhaust is still in place, too):

HCP15718 Aftermarket neutral position switch REMOVAL SOCKET. On many models, it's almost a physical impossibility to remove the neutral switch from the crankcase "well" without removing the exhaust system or removing the engine from the frame.....the left lower frame tube conspires with the exhaust system to make it unbelievably difficult to access the switch. This special "open side" socket is the proper size to squirm through those restricted spaces and make it possible to remove and re-install the position switch without going through a tremendous amount of effort. Standard 1/4" drive socket should be used with a 3" "swivel end" extension bar, or, it's even easier to use when attached to the HCP13516 flexible shaft driver listed below.

HCP13516 Aftermarket flexible "spring shaft" 1/4" SOCKET DRIVER TOOL, just the thing to use with the HCP15718 socket above to reach the neutral switch. Large plastic handle with 6" long flexible shaft.

Mine is all back together. I could post up a picture of the exhaust collector I guess. I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful :(

Funny thing: my dryer is currently torn down for maintenance.

I guess ,I need to tell you why I need to know where the safety switch. I bought the bike neutral safety switch was working without clutch lever and some wires cut. now that I have new clutch lever put the wires back together. the light comes on and stays on even when you're going down the road unless you disconnect the wiring.

Yes. Either bad or stuck from sludge buildup.

Look for the light blue wire near the shift lever, and between the frame rail and the oil pan. Follow it toward the front of the bike. It will terminate at a screw. That is where the switch is.
