I need help with gauges on a 82 xj750

    i am chopping it up and hate the stock gauges and the whole pod but there are alot of wires running into it any sugestions? i want it gone!!!

    I did not like the "depth-finder" looking gauges either. I took mine off and was careful to label all the wires as I took everything apart for future referrence. Then I just installed a speedo from an older 350 Honda (the ratio was actually more accurate than the stock setup) and did without a tach. ( I don't need no stinking tach)
    It no looks alot better in my opinion. Bobbed it and added a few things for my riding enjoyment (radio, speakers and a windshield)

    When I removed the stock speedo/tach unit, I labeled all the wires, so I'd know what everything was for. Then I just used the three signal light wires, nuetral switch wires, and the high beam wires. The rest I taped up and hid behind the headlight , between the fork tubes. I worked pretty dam well. I didn't figure I needed a tach, 'cause I never rev it high enough to need one. I don't think I ever red-lined the tach when I had one anyways.
