I got the Seca started for the first time in 15 years. It blew me away by starting on the first push of the button.

My problem is that it will only run with the choke on. It also has a miss.

I didn't rebuild the carbs. I just swapped carbs with one of my 82s that supposedly had them rebuilt 6 months ago. I also didn't rebuild the petcock. I tried to swap them but it seems the person who rebuilt it did it wrong, or the 82s are different. So I put the stock one back on and started it

I guess a petcock and carb rebuild should be the first thing I do, and then see if it still does the same thing.

    Thanks for any insight.

I would say carb rebuild, sync and tune. Even if you used carbs off of a different bike that had been rebuilt recently they are not tuned to this specific bike so I would assume there would still be issues since no bike/engine is exactly the same.

    Thanks TMHack.

    That's what I thought.

I just started it again and it ran even worse.

Since it won't run without enrichment (choke) on, seems like the idle circuit might be clogged. I had the same problem and found that the pilot jet nozzle on two of carbs were clogged.

Give the carbs a good cleaning!

    Thanks, Cisco.

I'm going to order a carb kit ASAP. I'm also going to get some new carb boots and a petcock rebuild kit.

I hope that does it. If not, I'm sure you guys will be able to help me out.

Anyone know of a good place to buy all the above items? I know eBay has some of it.

You can check e-bay for all of them. I got re-build kits for my carbs from oldbikebarn.com and new intake boots from e-bay for a really descent price. Be carefull when removing the old intake boots. The bolts that are in there tend to snap off from what I've read(didn't happen to me thankfully!) and that can cause a whole other ball o wax. There are topics on where it's been discussed so you might want to search for it in the forums and see if you find anything of use.
