I recently got my carbs back together after a really a good cleaning. I installed them on the bike and I got it started. I went to proceed to sync them so I bought my idle up a bit an sync them, everything was fine unitl I went to set the curb idle. The idle adjustment screw isn't even touching the linkage but its idling at 1050 rpm. I tried adjust the idle screws on each carb but they didn't even make a difference. I had set my float levels last season so I haven't checked them yet. I think that maybe the floats are too high or my linkage is binding on something. Anybody experience this problem before. Oh I did replace the throttle bushings with aftermarket ones, they are a little stiffer than factory but I can't see that being a problem. Going to check it out tonight.

The linkages are tight and open or there must be some air sneaking-in somewhere ...

Isolate it and correct the problem.

If everything else looks good you might want to re-sync them with the idle stop screw just lifting the butterflies.

Could be you have one bottoming out first and holding the others open.

I took off the carbs last night again, checked the fuel levels, they were good. I looked at the butterflies and they weren't shutting all the way. I loosened all the butterfly screws then retightened them with the idle screw not touching the linkage. Then I bought the idle screw up to the linkage, in a couple turns and put them back on the bike. vrrroooom perfect. Set my idle. I just has to resync them now.
