I have read through many posts about the Mixture screws, If i am looking in the right spot, it should be under the brass caps.? right?

I inspected my carbs, they are virgin and they still have the brass caps in place, if i am looking in the right spot.

I have been following the Manual, and if what i am seeing is correct, it says not to mess with that screw.....

^^is that the one im looking for? ^^

I purchased the colortune plug and i would like to tune it.

Im kinda on the fence here, I have read both - take the brass plugs out and adjust, and other's saying not to adjust.

Please let me know if i am even looking at the right screw here :)
If this isnt the right spot can someone slap me and point me in the right direction...

Thanks in advance for your help

You are indeed looking at the correct screws. And by all means, adjust. 25+ years means you have got to adjust!

I believe 3-3.5 turns out from a gentle bottom-out is your starting point.

I would start by turning them all in then back them out 2.5 turns each. Then start with the colortune. The trick about getting a proper colortune is you want to tune each one so that its rich(orange/yellow) then dial it in ever so slightly until it goes blue. So basically you want to be on the rich side of the blue not the lean side.

...after the engine warms up. Trying to use the Colortune when using the enrichener (AKA choke) or until properly warmed up will lead to incorrect setttings. Get a box fan set up in front of the engine to provide cooling while you dial-in the mixture screws and do the carb sync.

This is a great way to tune these bikes, even Amazon has the Colortune kit. Here's a You Tube video, conveniently a YICS airhead:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BU-5FhX_Qc

    HOLD ON.

Yes, those are the screws. You had to take them out when you cleaned the carburetors thoroughly.

You didn't clean the carbs thoroughly? Then tuning is your last issue.

Make note of the original positions of the screws when you do remove them. They will probably need new o-rings.

I took 4 days to clean every single nook and cranny on the carbs, i have started the bike and it runs like a champ, the screws still had the original brass caps over them, hence why i haven't cleaned them yet, i read a few posts and my manual that said not to mess with them. I was going to leave them in place but i purchased a Colortune and i wanted to do some fine tuning, i guess that those screws are what i need to adjust to get to that level of tuning.
I was going to work on taking out the brass caps today, then i will clean the screws and check the O rings.

    Thanks everyone for your advice.

You need to remove those Plugs.
You must do so WITHOUT damaging the delicate BRASS Mixture Screw ... just a few MM's below the Plug.

Drill a small hole in the Plug ... maintaining CONTROL of the Drill so you can STOP --> Before the Bit touches the Top of the Pilot Screw.

Measure ... with Great Accuracy ... the Depth of the TOP of the Screw to the Top of the Mixture Screw Hole.

You will have to make some very minute (My-Noot) adjustments to the Mixture Screw to obtain ideal Fine Tuning.
