Re: idle crap poor restart what the crap? ? ?

I used to own a 400 maxim, with the same problem. I changed the plug wires and that fixed it (it had replaceable wires).

Rye, would you be kind enough to rename your thread? Your choice of words doesn't quite fit in with the atmosphere we cultivate here. Thanks for your understanding. (Cruddy would be a little more appropriate)
As for the noise, your starter clutch could be in bad shape and/or your starter needs to be cleaned and regreased. Inspect them both and clean them up.
As for the dying idle, I'd say you need new plugs. Ensure the gap is correct. You may also need to get into the carbs and clean them out really good.

Sorry my frustrations get the best of me at times.
the weird thing is that this isn't an ongoing problem sometimes, most times it doesnt do this, seem like only on trips shorter than 20 miles does it have trouble restarting, and only when I try and restart after just a short time of being off ( hehe like stopping for gas ) but if I let it sit for ten or so min it will start with no issues. Seems to only happen when I'm in a hurry to be somewhere, like work at 5 am hahaaha (hints my frustration) otherwise this bike rides great!
I do plan on rebuilding my carbs soon enough (once I get my hands on a yics tool) and once my pod air cleaners, and jets arrive... But that's another story hahaha
again I apologize for my thread title :(
