I was watching weird stuff on my new DirecTV HD and one of the commercials I saw last night was for a show called Café Racer on Discovery HD Theater channel 281 on Direct TV. Here a link to some info on it. http://www.caferacertv.com/ It seems like it could be a pretty cool show.

Yeah I wish it was on my Comcast On-Demand so I could watch all the episodes I missed (all of them).

Guess I can try to find them elsewhere. :p

yes, great show but i would love to see more paticulars of the individual build and a bunch less lifestyle and riding of that build by famous? riders.
Oh well, i guess im just more of a tech head!

I actually stopped in and talked with the guys from J&B Moto - they did the orange Yamaha. They are really great guys - super down to earth and will just hang out and talk bike with you if you stop in. It was great to see the bike from the show in person! I never knew this shop existed in my back yard but am glad to have learned of it.

Don't worry guys, (since it was on the discovery channel) I'm sure they will replay it a thousand times and if you miss that I'm sure the learning channel will pick it up.

It's a good show...been watching from the start. A buddy of mine has a shop in Wrightsville, PA that was featured in a couple episodes. They built a "monoshock" XS650...sick suspension, awesome looks. Jeff and Brian can build anything you can imagine. Great shop to hang-out at, learn some fabrication tricks, and enjoy a cool tasty beverage while talking about Cafe Bikes.

I'm going to see about getting a solo seat pan built for my Seca 550...if it's not too much $$$, I'm getting it done.

Great show.Have 8 episodes on the harddrive just waiting to be saved to disk. This show is part of the thing that fueled my obsession for my cafe build. Jeff and Brian at J&B seem to be real cool guys. I live right in Pittsburgh, so, hopefully, some day, I'll meet Mike Seate and get to chat with him.

I've read M Seate and followed his reviews in the various publications for a few years now. I think he pretty much calls it as he sees it but I feel bad for the guy. He's definitely a racer type with smarts but the poor guys huge!

At least with the show they are finally letting guys know that rotating your handlebars down doesn't make a cafe` racer. How many times I've seen ad's where guys have done exactly that then claimed to be selling a cafe`<LOL>. Most of the builders go right after the weight. We used to call cutting weight, making free HP since every 7 pounds or so is worth one hp.

Roadrash, have you ever gone to the swapmeets at White Rose? They had a beautifully done yammy RD cafe` there last year. The total bike must have weighed less then 275....and looked really sharp. I thought about cafe'ing my RD350 but decided to keep it all original when Joe Gresh reminded me that there aren't that many original 74's anymore.

As reliable as my Vstrom 1000 is, it weighs a 1/4 ton and I hate heavy bikes. I'd rather ride a 300 pound machine making 50-75HP then a 500 pound machine making 120-140.

Jeff is a genius with the spray gun and airbrush...he used to spray cabinetry and do accents at the same place I worked a few years ago. He can fab like nobody's business and I totally trust him to make a quality solo seat for my Seca.

I started my Cafe transformation about 8 years ago, but it was put on hold 'cuz of my divorce and the sale of my home. Now that I'm settled-in again, the build continues.
