I have a 1982 XJ650 J. The ignition coils are super corroded and I think I will just replace them...

My question is can I replace the original coils with some coils off of a 82 XJ650 turbo with no issues? I'm aware the resistance levels on the coils are different but I am not sure if that will cause issues or not...But my problem is that the motorcycle boneyard I go to for spare parts only has a turbo model available right now.

I was also thinking of buying some Dyna Coils but they are just a little expensive(Almost as much as I payed for the bike)

    Thanks XJ peeps!

Idk if the turbo coils would work on your bike. Many members have already switched to modern coils like dyna. The old coils will work as long as they aren't cracked and have been tested. Imo post a "wtb" thread in the appropriate forum; a member may have a good used set you can buy. Also check e-bay. Hope this helps.

P.S. - Once recommissioned majority of our bikes are worth more than what we paid for them.
