On my factory/ original coils i get 10k thorugh the wires and 5k in caps. for a total of 15k. this is right about where it should be if i read correctly. Because of a mix up i ordered new coils from ebay(brand new) and figured screw it, ill just install them so its one less thing i have to worry about falling apart in the future. I measured the secondary resistance and its at 35k ohms on both. These were listed as 82 seca 650 coils, which is exactly what my bike is.

should i use these without resistance plug caps? or just send them back? thats over twice what my resistance is now without 5k even added in?

    any info is greatly appreciated

I'm assuming that you bought used coils since the secondary resistances are so high. Send them back; they are busted. If they really are new coils, then send them back; they are either busted or the wrong coils.

is 10k plus 5k plus 5k equaling 15k new math or a misprint on your part?

    specs
    Ignition Coils:

Primary side (input from main wiring harness):
    2.5 ohms +/- 10% = 2.25 ohms - 2.75 ohms acceptable range

Secondary side (spark plug wires, without their end caps):
    11K ohms +/- 20% = 8,800 ohms - 13,200 ohms acceptable range

    Spark plug caps:
    5K +/- 20% = 4,000 to 6,000 ohms per cap acceptable range

    Spark plugs:
    0 ohms per plug

i think you may have read it twice. my post only says 10k wires + 5k Caps. the new coils are at 35k just from the wire without caps on, so if i tried to reuse my old caps i would be sitting at 40K. or buy all new 0 ohm cap and still be at 35k secondary.

    "total of 15 K" is what you stated . 10k sparkplug wires plus 2 caps of 5k = 20k

so what do you get from 1 cap to the other cap when installed on your coil pack?

are you talking about a xj650? if so see the specs I posted above.

if you add all the max tolerances you can have 25.2k ohms max or your spark gets weaker.
    minimum would be 16.8k ohms

    return the coils you bought
