I tested my coils and they are in spec. But I had to test the resistance in the plug wires by pulling the plug
caps off and sticking the probes into the holes in the end of the plug wires. when I stuck the probes into
the spark plug caps I got no continuity. Is this normal ? Is there some kind interference within a plug cap
that would block continuity ? I bought a new set of NGK caps, but the wires are kind of chewed up.Is there
a way to splice new plug wire onto the old maybe a couple of inches from the coils ? Maybe a splice kit or
a soldering procedure ? I'm thinking that new wire would carry a spark better and also look cooler. there isn't enough length left to trim back the rubber to expose fresh copper inside.

here's how i did it and it worked for years
parts, the shank of a steel pop rivet, two pieces of heat shrink one as long as the spike one a 1/2 inch longer, super glue, grease, copper core plug wire.
sharpen the ends of the pop rivet nice and sharp and even, push it into the plug wire half way right in the copper conductors, chop off the old wire leaving 1.5 inches on the coil, push
the new wire and spike into the old wire right in the center, just before they touch add a 1/8 drop of super glue and push them together, slide the first shorter heat shrink on and smear some super glue around the joint, shrink it, put a little grease on the first heat shrink, slide on the second, shrink it.
that joint won't bend so leave the wires a little long.
this won't help is the original wire is broke inside the coil

Get a pair of Honda cb 750 coils from 81 /83 they are cheap on eBay , they have removable plug wires and mount like stock you just have to flip over. My bike runs great and they are made by Hiatachi same as stock

There is a splice kit available from XJ4ever.
