OK so most likely you guys are going to come in and say 'haha, idiot!'

Buttttt... it was 3am when I finished my carbs, and I wanted them IN for a test fire.

Last thing that went on was the floats and bowls.

And I think my floats went in backwards. O_O

Can someone post a pic, or explain which way they go?

If I remember right, the notched side was facing out, and I do believe that is wrong!

All I know is I turned the fuel on to the bike, and it FLEW through the line, and then there was gas on the shed floor - I believe out of the airbox drain pipe. Awesome!

I need to pull them out, and flip the floats, but before I do that I just need verification on how they go in place. The one picture I didn't take!

And - anybody got tips on a bench sync? I did it by eye, looking at the light coming through. Seemed to be good - but my idle screw seems to be in quite a bit as it is. Are the sync screws supposed to be all the way IN or OUT, right before they get loose?

Thanks guys, I am so close with the bike...
Now I just need to hope that the outside cylinders are not off again. I got it running a bit last night even with the floats most likely wrong - and the outside cylinders were cooler than the inside. I do believe that the grounds on the left coil is not that great, and my battery needs water and a good charge, could that cause it? Not to mention the floats most likely backwards isn't helping - but I would think they'd all fire the same regardless of the floats.

    Thanks guys...

carbs upside down the tab that adjusts the floats should be bent down
    sync:
engine side of carb bore, carbs upright, inside bore on top , two tiny holes,
adjust sync screws till butterflys are just touching far side of nearest hole and idle screw can open and close them all equally in synchronicity

Thanks bill. Took me a bit to find the right picture for the floats.
The pics of yours all fuzzy didn't help haha, but the ones right below that did.

My 'beveled edges' are facing OUT, and they should be IN. Thank god, because that much gas otherwise would be a BIG problem! haha.

I am at work so I didn't really have time to search that much, but was hoping to get a quick answer. Thanks again!

Yea the first pics I took were fuzzy and I was too tired to take new ones. The later pics are better. When the floats are on right they look upside down to me too.

    You around Wednesday? :)

Geoff MIGHT pull the rack again for me Monday and flop em.

I think I need to re-do the bench sync too, I did it just by eyeballing the light and it looked real good - but I could NOT get the idle screw all the way OUT, while having all the butterflies close to closed. I don't get it, I am 99% sure I got all the springs rights. Everything went together great.

OK so basically this is my main worry about the bench sync.

When I got ALL the butterflies lined up... the idle screw had to be 3/4 of the way IN.

If I backed it to about 1/2 way out, the butterflies were shut. I didn't spend a LOT of time messing with it, but I am pretty sure I had the sync screws all the way IN, and all the way OUT, and tried both ways... couldn't get the butterflies 'open a bit'.

Will have to play around with it more. Geoff is probably going to pull the rack tomorrow and flip my floats over... (doh)
Where should my sync screws beeeeee......

If I can get it running and have my sync screws set up right in relation to the idle screw, then I can start playing with a vac sync Wedneday, get a good ride in and warm it up, then get my colortune in there.

Remember - color tune is yours to borrow man!
