Hello, I am building a somewhat cafe racer of 82 Xj550. I bought this bike taken apart and it had some work done to it already such as some parts sandblasted. The problem is some of the sand got into the gearbox and im in need of any information how to get it out. The engine has not been started. I believe its the starter hole that was not pluged properly and the abrasives got in thru there.
    Thanks for any information.

You could remove the oil pan and any other covers that would give you access to the inside of the motor clutch cover and then start flushing the motor out in a bath . Hard to say whether you could get all the grit out without a full disassembly of the motor

    you say , "sand blasting"
was "sand" actually used ?, normally ,if it was to clean the engine externally , then either glass beads or even wallnut shells are used to blast the casings, which are much less abrasive to the engine internalls.
but as XJ550 says ,flush the thing out, you could use diesel oil, or paraffin as a static flush.
